First topic message reminder :

A camp surrounded by interwoven brambles and thorns. The WindClan wolves sleep underneath the stars and have no need for dens, except for that of the leader and for the queens. The leader's den is a small, dead-end cave while the nursery is a large hole, buried deep in the ground.

Happily snoozing in the sun next to Honeybadger, Ashfrost opened one eye at the young sounding voice. Giving a quiet groan, he shut his eyes again. he'd forgotten about this pup, and was in no mood to tell stories. Pups weren't worth the time in his opinion. Not bothering to move, he let Honeybadger do all the talking, yawning widely when he was addressed about a story. “I don't tell stories, pup.” He was short with his words, as per usual with anyone young than a warrior, and didn't really care that he was probably disappointing the pup. Honeybadger had plenty of stories that the pup could listen to without him adding in anything. Though he had to admit that occasionally this pup could be somewhat patient, and he was mostly polite for a pup his age. It just didn't change the fact that he was entirely too loud and energetic. Yawning again, he settled more comfortably in the sun, pondering the fact that he had no apprentice at this point in time before pushing those thoughts away. With the only pup in the clan being the one currently standing in front of them, the medicine wolf didn't mind not having an apprentice. The right one would come along soon enough, when he truly needed one. Resting his muzzle on his paws, he shut his eyes again, prepared to listen to whatever story the pup chose and Honeybadger didn't mind telling. At least it would keep the bouncy young thing quiet for a while and not being annoyingly loud.

FOXPUP
~~~
The youngster sat down next to the two older wolves, awaiting patiently to see if they would tell him a story. Ashfrost was lounging in the sun, his dark grey coat blending into the long grass, and Honeybadger was busy eating something. Foxpup titled his head curiously, and then remembered that the older wolf took often took medicine. He noticed a silvery ear flicker in his direction, and soon his gaze met the softer features of the elder. "Foxpup, you're out of the nursery then? Hm?" She mused, and the orange tinged pup gave a meek nod of his head. "A story? I suppose I can think of one... what kind of story? An adventure of finding a new territory for us to live?" By now the ocean eyes of the wolf pup were wide with excitement, and a huge goofy grin had spread across his face. "Or a daring exploit of creating a new clan?" Honeybader finally finished, Foxpup pricking up his ears.
Next to the elder, the Medicine Wolf lay unfazed. He opened an eye to glare at Foxpup, before shutting them again almost immediately. When he spoke, his voice sounded gruff and uninterested. "I don't tell stories, pup." He stated, continuing to lay in the grass. The pup let out a disappointed sigh, and he stuck out his bottom lip, brows furrowed at the slate coloured wolf. "Aw, really?" He woofed sadly, but quickly turned back toward Honeybadger. He rolled onto the grass, and sprawled out under the sun, getting himself comfy in the grass. Looking at the two of them with an upside down view of the world, the puppy suppressed the urge to giggle, and inside yipped an answer to the elder wolf. "Tell me about finding a new territory!" He wondered what scary things they'd have to face and how long the journey was. He couldn't imagine ever having to leave his home. "Please!"
PostSubject: Re: WindClan Camp   WindClan Camp - Page 2 I_icon_minitimeMon Aug 07, 2017 11:29 am
A little amused at her friends words she shot the other old wolf a look that displayed her amusement before she got more comfortable in her spot in the sun. He seemed to be a good pup, not filled with endless questions at least, the pups who never shut up with their questions did get quite irritating especially when high pitched noises hurt her ears these days. Yawning a brief moment showing her few teeth that were left in her mouth she drew her mind back to when they'd left the territories where their ancestors were buried. It was a little depressing for her, the land where her children and grand children were buried was now a long journey away and there was no way to visit their graves and remember them. Taking a deep breath she looked down at the pup and smiled, her brown eyes now flecked with many hues of amber showing her age, once black and white she was mainly grey now with black hairs running through her pelt along her back licking her nose she finally got her behind into gear and began with the tale of how the clans had left the territories and guided by starclan were lead to the new territories where they lived now.
"It all started after the facility that had been stealing wolves from the clans was infiltrated and destroyed. A fire spread through the lands of our forefathers, it swept through the clans not one place was left untouched, medicine herbs destroyed, so many lives were lost during that dark time. After the fires had finally subsided the remaining wolves all met up at where once upon a time four trees had stood where we held our gatherings. Our leader was Snowstar then, kind, wise and very sweet she managed to save several of our clan. We had no idea where to go, and we were all worried and panicking, however Snowstar didn't fret instead she and the other leaders talked and a medicine wolf received a vision from starclan with a new place for us to live, an entire cycle of seasons away.
The fires had taken place during the heat of leaf green and so everything had been tinder dry, the fire had also chased away the prey and so it was so very hard for us all to find food to survive. True to the warrior code the elders and pups were fed first, then the apprentices and warriors, during that green leaf we saw so many things we'd never seen before. Iron thunderpaths that had huge metal monsters screaming past, but along with the bad things there were some amazing things we'd never seen before. There was a place we passed through where in the middle of green leaf all of these trees were lit up with beautiful pink blossoms. Another place was a huge valley we passed through, we saw horses roaming they're these big creatures about the size of a stag but no antlers. They made good prey.
During leaf bare we were travelling through a barren land where there were these herds of cattle with strange horns and interesting pelt patterns. Some brash sunclan wolves tried to hunt these only to be chased off and one killed by the two leggers that guarded them. we learned how to find water and soon learnt how to hunt the prey that could be found there, once out of the strange land we found a great river that had to be crossed. It took us an entire moon to figure out where to cross and how, we made a chain of adults in the water that passed the pups across and helped apprentices and elders. Finally across we found we had to find a way over some mountains and with leaf bare setting in there was a debate on whether we'd wait for leaf bare to pass before crossing or to go as quickly as we could.
Despite Snowstars requests the brash Leaders of the other clans insisted we go straight away, so we travelled along the flat land before we reached the foot of the mountains and started the hard journey. Clambering up the trails that started off gentle and eventually became steep we found a comfortable plateau where we hunted and it was here that windclan shined. Only we were able to hunt the animals on the plateau, we fed the clans that for that briefly were the one clan. After spending a few weeks on the plateau to feed ourselves up and build up our strength, the going was tough the cold deep snows several elders perished in the cold, most of the pups were apprentices by then although it was still very difficult for them. Frostbite, Avalanches, lack of prey were killers even healthy warriors found the will to go on difficult and yet we pushed forward without giving in.
It was new leaf before we finally escaped the mountains, weak and hungry, on the far side of the mountains. To our surprise and gratitude there was a lush grassland and small wooded area where we stayed for another two moons or two building up our strength again. We stayed in a cave and had grass instead of moss for nests, apprentices were made warriors and pups were born to several pairs. They had to keep warm some how after all "
she muttered quietly shooting an amused look at Ashfrost.
"It was green leaf before we were on our paws walking and how we felt like we'd been travelling forever, our paw pads were worn and we just wanted some place to call home. As some of us were starting to loose hope we found the territory where we now live, the one clan became four again and the leaders sent out teams to scout territory together they directed out who would own what. The split of the clans was difficult for the pups and apprentices who'd bonded with wolves of other clans and must now resign themselves to being at the least neutral with one another never friends or allies. And that Foxpup is how the clans moved from our home to our new home
Tired and with a sore throat from speaking for too long she licked her lips feeling thirsty but not really wanting to get up to fetch a drink. Resting her muzzle on one of her legs she blinked her brown eyes tiredly at the pup looking her age for once. Most of the time her fiery defiant spirit kept her badgering warriors and leaders however the day had been tiring for her.
She wanted to rest for a while now, stretching out so her old bones and thin fur could soak up as much of the sun as they could. The medicine wolfs herbs had started their work and it helped her relax, a slight smile wound its way up her grey muzzle ready for a nap.
FOXPUP
~~~
As the story began, the little one turned onto his stomach, and rested his fluffy orange cheeks upon his paws. The elder let out a sigh, and in the light, her brown eyes looked amber coloured. Silently, Foxpup listened. Honeybadger spoke of many things, some of which, the pup couldn't comprehend just yet, being a little too young to fully take in everything. She spoke of two legs and a great fire, and how it had spread and ravished the lands that they had lived in, and she spoke of their old leader, a wolf called Snowstar; she described them as kind and wise. A sad expression spread across the puppy's face. The elder spoke of so much death and the journey was much more frightening to hear about than he had expected, but still, he listened.

Honeybadger's voice resumed, filling his fluffy ears to the brim with information. She spoke further of two legs and the thunderpaths, metal monsters and deer like creatures, as well as a beautiful land filled with pink blossom. Foxpup hadn't seen such things, and struggled to imagine what they could look like. Still, the idea filled him with terror, despite being unable to conjure up an image. His blue gaze was fixated on the elder, entranced with the story, as she then began to speak of a barren land, with strange horned creatures and how a warrior had been killed by a two leg trying to hunt one. He frowned. Honeybadger then spoke of a large river they had to cross and how it had taken a moon to figure out a way.

The story soon moved on, and then the pup was imagining huge mountains, and a grassy plateau. He imagined all of the Windclan wolves, hunting and providing food for each of the clans, and then, he was picturing snow storms and avalanches - the cold tumbling from the tops of the giant summits. He felt a chill go down his spin. Soon the story approached it's end. Foxpup stared, his little muzzle open in awe. He hadn't expected the tale to be so scary, but it was a good story all the same. He looked down at his fuzzy paws, and then up at Honeybadger and Ashfrost, a tinge of nervousness in his gaze. Now the elder seemed relaxed, her brown eyes closed and her head resting on her paws. Foxpup noticed a small smile. Brushing off his feelings of anxiety after such a story, the pup regained his bright smile, and yipped at the two adults. "Thanks for the story, Honeybadger... That sounded like a really scary journey."

Heavypaw's pelt bristled as the sun beat down on him as soon as he stepped out of the den. His eyes narrowed so he could see, and he briskly scuttled across camp to get back into the shade. As beautiful as Greenleaf was, he didn't like how hot it could get.

The apprentice found his eyes dart over to the fresh-kill pile. It was early, so the prey was starting to dwindle quickly as everyone got up to start their day off with full bellies. His ear twitched thoughtfully. Perhaps he'd go out and hunt later, when it starts to cool off. That was the best time to hunt, because the prey would be out later as well.

Panting when she finally got back to camp she somewhat regretted her mad gallop in the green-leaf heat. Desperate for a drink of water she'd made a short detour on the way home and now was pretty satisfied, looking about for Larkstar she didn't see her however she did see Honeybadger in the middle of a story. So she padded closer and settled down to listen her ears flattening slightly as she recognized this story, she'd been born in the new territories with Obsidianshard however she'd been told the story by Honeybadger as a pup too. Despite her ornery nature the elder was a pretty good story teller and Ember wasn't quite sure how the old female managed to remember as much as she did. Watching as Heavypaw got up from his nest and looked around she returned her gaze to Honeybadger, remembering how shocked she'd been as a pup when the elder told her that in the other clans they slept in dens. Only The leader, nursery, medicine wolf and elders had dens! They, the best clan, Windclan slept beneath the stars and thus were much tougher than the others

Relieved when the pup didn't press him for more, Ashfrost settled back to his snoozing, absently listening to the story. It wasn't one that he'd been in himself, since he'd joined the clan only a few moons ago, but he wasn't surprised that Honeybadger knew how they'd moved territories. She was a wealth of knowledge that the clan was stupid not to use. Unable to stop a snort of laughter at the subtle undertone, he met Honeybadger's amused gaze, knowing exactly what she was referring to. Yawning, he stretched out in the sun more, lying on his side to soak it up a bit more. There wasn't much for him to do with all the wolves nicely healthy, and no apprentice to keep an eye on. he'd stocked up his herbs early that morning, and would do a double check later at nightfall in case there was anything else he could do. Hearing the panting, he looked over for the source of it, noting Embershard coming over to listen to the story as well. Giving another yawn, he shut his eyes again and drifted off, quite content spending time with the old elder in the sun.

Heavypaw played with a small twig, flicking it with a claw only for it to roll back. He was oh so bored! When was he going to be taken for a training session? Whatever. The pack needed fed, so that's what he was going to do.

The she-wolf padded back into camp, her amber gaze scanning the clearing. "I guess the hunting patrol hasn't returned yet," she thought, noting a lack of several warriors. The clan seemed mostly relaxed at the moment, as the two elders laid in the Green-leaf sun and a few of the other wolves seemed to leisure around at ease. But Larkstar couldn't help but feel threatened at the loners' words however, and the calm atmosphere did little to lighten her thoughts. "Skyclan. I need to ask Honeybadger about such matters. Perhaps she will know." Padding closer to the old wolf, she could hear the elder telling Foxpup a story, and one that she definitely recognized. "The Great Journey, I was a new apprentice when we fled the forest. It seems so long ago now." Larkstar walked up closer, just managing to hear the end of the long tale. Foxpup seemed pleased, if not a little startled, by the elder's chilling tale. "Hopefully she didn't tell him much about the facility and how the two-legs replaced the wolves' body parts with metal. That would give him nightmares for weeks!" Of course, Lark herself was proof of that awful event, her back paw not hers but instead some two-leg contraption. She hated that thing dearly, but without it she wouldn't be able to walk, so she kept it on.
Waiting until Honeybadger had finished her story, the leader then approached her, dipping her head. "Honeybadger, could I see you in my den for a minute please?" She asked, not sure what kind of reply she would get from the old fay. Lark knew her to be snappish, but she also realized that the elder had been through much and that her wisdom and experience her insurmountable.

She would have been quite content to lie there in the sun for the rest of the day as it and the herbs Ashfrost had given her did their work, however it seemed Larkstar wanted something. Lifting her head she narrowed her gaze a little, first she wanted her to go away and now she wanted something of her? How fitting, not wanting to get up or move out of the sun she considered it before getting up slowly onto her old paws “I'm not going into a cold damp den when i've just warmed up, pick a private spot in the sun to talk” she insisted, once they were somewhere that the new leader deemed quiet enough for them to talk unhindered she was unable to resist a jab “wanting to listen to me now are we?” talk about typical, not want her around until she was of some use, Russetstar never would have treated his elders this way. She was the eldest wolf in the clans and as such held most of the clans history and knowledge in her brain that had not dulled with age if anything it had been kept sharp from everything that'd happened to her in her long life.

Ashfrost was the only one that really valued her in this clan anyway, if it wasn't for that other old coot she might have left and joined a clan that actually appreciated her and what she had to share. “well lets get on with it, what do you want” she demanded her usual grumpy crotchety self, the faint few moments of happiness she'd had with the pup were gone now. Foxpup was good, he liked to listen to her stories and seemed to enjoy them too, it was good she didn't know how much longer she had left on this earth before she finally joined her family in starclan. So she needed to find someone to tell all of her stories to so the knowledge she'd gathered in her time wouldn't die with her, at least she'd be able to communicate with Ashfrost from Starclan and could share what she knew with him. Shifting her weight a little so it wasn't so painful to stand the elder waited quite impatiently for the Leader to speak, frustrated as ever that her body no longer could keep up with her. She wanted to keep hunting for the clan, fighting for them, and yet she was lucky if she could walk around the clan camp without limping or feeling stiff.

Larkstar sighed at Honeybadger's words, the old she-wolf as usual making a jab at her for every little thing. She was a clan leader, yet she still felt obliged to listen to the old wolf's words, even though they were humiliating. "Very well then," she replied to the she-wolf who had ordered for them to find a place in the sun. She followed Honeybadger to the other side of camp, almost able to see every bone that stuck out under the old fays' thin fur and skin. The wolf was almost a walking corpse, so close to death that there might as well been Starclan wolves following her, preparing to reap her soul away to the starry sky.
Lark came to a halt when Honeybadger did, hearing the wolf make more another jarring comment. She did not answer to it, thinking that it would make the elder even more snappish. Instead she went on with her request. "Honeybadger, today out on patrol we met two wolves who claimed to be from faraway. They had the scent of clanwolves, but they didn't smell like any clan around here." She gazed at the other fay with an intent amber gaze, wondering what answers she would be able to provide. "They then said that they were from another clan, Skyclan. They said that Skyclan was one of the original clans that got thrown out of the old territories long ago." She continued, her tone quiet to not let other wolves hear. She hesitated before continuing, "Have you... ever heard of a story like this?" She asked, looking to the old wolf for answers.

FOXPUP
~~~
Since the silvery elder had finished her story, the pup momentarily occupied his time looking about the camp. During the story, a warrior had approached and sat down to listen. Their fur had a similar tinge to his own, comprised of orange, white, and darker hues, as well as bright amber eyes that seemed to gleam in the even brighter sunlight. He titled his head for a moment, and tried to place a name to the familiar looking face, but the young pup simply wasn't quite sure, and it wasn't long before his short attention span became focused elsewhere. His sapphire gaze flickered over the medicine wolf who was sprawled out and asleep in the warm rays, and then onto the brown figure of Heavypaw. The other Windclan wolf didn't look as if he was enjoying the heat and looked impatient and bored. Soon enough the apprentice disappeared out of the camp, causing Foxpup to prick up his ears in curiosity. Where was he going, and why? The little pup frowned, but didn't say anything; he didn't know the apprentice well and didn't want to get himself into trouble. Attention switching yet again, the auburn tinged pup decided that he would chase birds about the camp.
She didn't seem very impressed until she heard the word Skyclan then her expression changed and a sorrowful look flickered its way onto her features. "It was bound to bite the clans behind sooner or later" she glanced around at the other wolves in the clan not exactly wishing for them to hear this. She shifted her old paws thoughtfully before she spoke again "Lets go for a walk Larkstar, its a long story and I'm not sure its meant for the prying ears of camp" besides she hadn't been out of camp for a long time, shaking out her thinned fur she appeared not to notice that she'd lost weight at this time of year the old female seeming to not let herself fade away. Her old eyes set above a muzzle greyed out and filled with wrinkles were strangely troubled, lurching to her feet she made her way over to the entrance of the camp. Instead of taking off without waiting for Larkstar, Honeybadger surprisingly waited for her so they could travel together somewhere a little more secluded, once she had caught up the elder was able to move into a surprisingly smooth trot it wasn't the fastest but it got the job
The fay blinked in surprise at the elder's words. "Bound to bite the clans sooner or later? Does that mean there really was a Skyclan?" She was even more surprised when Honeybadger suggested that they take a walk outside the camp to discuss it further. Larkstar didn't argue, quite happy to be alone in case of any eavesdroppers. "Sure, after you," she replied simply, her mind buzzing with questions. She let the old wolf lead the way, quite willing to follow and hear what she had to say. "Do any other wolves know about this clan?" She wondered silently, not voicing her opinions until they had reached whatever place they were heading for. As Larkstar left camp behind and padded forward, she notice that Honeybadger was heading in the direction of the Jagged Cliff, quite surprised that the she-wolf would want to head so far from camp.
Thornfur heaved some laboured breaths as he slowed his approach to the camp, his eyes streaming as the wind had whipped the water from them. Twisting his body rapidly from side to side he shook out his thick, black fur until all of the blades of grass and flower buds that he'd picked up of the moor dislodged themselves from his coat. The run had been exhausting, the heat of the sun unrelenting on the exposed terrain of the moorland. But it has achieved what he had hoped - he no longer felt fidgety and distracted. Now he could fully concentrate on the other activities of the day. He entered as Larkstar exited with Honeybadger who trotting steadily along beside her. He hadn't heard their conversation before he entered the camp but there was only one real conclusion that he could draw from the two taking off together - Honeybadger did indeed have some information about SkyClan. His brow furrowed in thought as he entered the camp, churning over in his mind what the presence of another Clan could mean for the relative harmony that the five Clans existed in. Whether or not Larkstar intended to share whatever information Honeybadger shared with her to the rest of the Clan, Thornfur resolved to make sure to ask her when there was a quiet moment after she returned.
The large male's deep brown eyes surveyed the camp and found Foxpup, Embershard and a half-asleep Ashfrost to be the only wolves in sight. Grunting absentmindedly his eyes fixed themselves on the most active body in sight: Foxpup. The pup seemed to be chasing birds in an attempt to occupy himself, and Thornfur found himself wondering why he didn't play with some of the other youngsters until he remembered that there were no other pups currently in WindClan. It was a somewhat sad realisation (mostly because it would now mean that the warriors would have to entertain him), but he was confident that the nursery wouldn't remain vacant for long. It never did.
Heaving a sigh Thornfur padded over to where Foxpup was playing. Secretly, deep down, he had a bit of a soft spot for pups (when they were well behaved) but he would never openly admit that to anyone. Not even to his sister. Settling himself down a short distance away from Foxpup the large warrior tilted his head to the side in a quizzical manner, trying to appear playful and friendly whilst his deep, rumbling voice and hunched shoulders may have suggested otherwise. "What are you doing there, squirt?"
FOXPUP
~~~
The little one continued to dash about the camp, snapping his little maw awkwardly at any birds that bothered to land near him. He'd been unsuccessful at catching anything of course... if anything he was more likely to annoy the feathered creatures to death - as well as anyone in camp. The pup stuck out his bottom lip as yet another bird flew away, and he furrowed his brows. "Hmpth." He exhaled through his nose, and pawed at the dirt, and then he pricked up his ears at the sound of a voice. Turning his head, he looked to see a ebony coloured wolf, with a white chest, and deep brown eyes. "What are you doing there, squirt?" They had asked. Foxpup let out another sigh, and his ocean tinged gaze lowered to the floor. "Hey Thornfur," The youngster yipped. "I was trying to catch birds." He answered, looking back up at the Warrior.

Heavypaw slunk into camp as quietly as he could, trying not to be noticed. He didn't feel like talking about where he went or what he did, he just hoped the small bath in the stream washed off the house-dog's scent. His belly growled and he eyed the fresh-kill pile, not much was left. Everyone else had the same idea. The apprentice looked around for his mentor, but couldn't see her anywhere. He clawed the ground in frustration. Who else can teach me to hunt? The young male trotted off into what little shade he could find and rested his body onto the ground, panting heavily.

The silver and cream female had been gaining weight over the past few months and had no real inclination of what was going on with her. Her cyan blue eyes spotted Heavypaw investigate the fresh kill pile then find a place to flop down in the sun, wondering if he wasn't eating because he hadn't hunted for the clan Lilacsplash got up and moved over onto him on tired paws a kind look in her gaze "Want to come out and do some hunting with me then Heavypaw? You look like you could do with something to eat" she quite liked the apprentice he seemed to have a good nature and was happy to help out although she wasn't quite sure where they should hunt the idea of getting out of camp was a good one. "Should we head out to the prairie then?" she asked the heavily set apprentice in her sweet tones. It was getting harder and harder to hunt with the strange weight she was growing and she was starting to get rather sensitive about the issue.

Heavypaw nearly jumped when he was addressed by a warrior in his Clan. "Oh, hey Lilacsplash," he greeted with a polite dip of his head. Glancing back at the now barren fresh-kill pile, his stomach let out another growl. He glanced down at his frame. Despite his name, he really wasn't fat or anything. He just had a thick pelt like his mother and the colors from his father. He was more muscle than anything, but for some reason they picked 'Heavypup' for him. Heavy what? Heavybelly? Heavystep? "Heavyheart" his mothers words echoed from his recent nightmare. Wincing, he shook his head violently to try and clear it from his memory, but to no avail.

He quickly remembered he was having a conversation with the young warrior and looked back up at her sky blue eyes, slightly embarrassed. Hopefully she didn't notice. "Yeah, that sounds good."

Without another word, he turned around and headed out of camp.

Flicking her tail a little watching the male she was amused by the growl of his belly, obviously he was just as hungry as he'd looked as he'd investigated the fresh kill pile. His gaze seemed to get a little distant after he'd replied, wondering what was going on in his head she studied him quietly, he wasn't built like a typical windclan wolf. If anything he appeared to look like a Thunderclan, built heavily with plenty of muscle. He suddenly winced and shook his head as if trying to dislodge a particular thought, she knew what that was like as she'd done it plenty herself. She smiled at him when he finally replied pretending like she hadn't noticed his distractedness at all, her blue gaze flicked to his back for a brief moment. He smells a little strange,but i shouldn't pry she couldn't really place the scent and it was quite faint and waterlogged so the silver and cream wolf didn't really say anything else. He turned about and headed for the place she'd suggested, Lilacsplash hadn't really paid attention that morning and so didn't know that there was already a patrol there as she followed suit.
