The Silver Forest 15009237911_49b4e3e7a8_b

This part of ShadowClan's territory is covered in silver birch and trembling aspen trees. On nights of the full moon the white bark is lit up brightly by the moon's rays. Deer love this place in greenleaf as it has the tastiest grass, and the air is rife with bird song and other animals going about their business. In leafbare the trees all shed their leaves and it becomes almost like a ghost forest. The deer come here then when there is nothing else to eat and strip the bark from the trees.

Padding up he found that the mist had cleared up a little in the silver forest, looking around rather pleased that he could see more now, Dragonsteel stretched out his muscled powerful body before lifting his nose to the wind and sniffing out something worth hunting. A big boy he could probably take down a young deer on his own if he was careful about it, he followed his nose tracking a few game trails searching for something that should do. Ignoring the rabbits as they wouldn't feed many wolves he picked up on the scent of what smelt like a doe and her growing offspring from spring, licking his chops at the idea of digging his teeth into venison the wolf crouched down and carefully began stalking the smell. Keeping his eyes out for the doe and her fawn, the mist worked to his advantage as he was grey and thus could blend into the mist better, biding his time he nearly missed the correct moment and so landed a little lower than he would have liked. Snarling as he was kicked when the youngster took flight he managed to dig his teeth deeper into the leg ignoring the pain in his gut where it'd kicked him. Reluctant to let go he eventually did when he was certain that it wouldn't be able to out run him, landing on four paws he powered himself forward aiming to get infront of it as best as he could. Leaping up once more and landing with his forepaws on its shoulders he grabbed it by the back of its neck then dropped down using his heavy weight to sharply twist the fawns neck and snapped it enough to kill the youngster. Quite pleased with his catch he licked the blood from his muzzle panting a little, he wasn't the fastest but he was strong enough to use it to his advantage, this should keep the clan fed for a fair while.

Minkfur quietly followed the scent of Dragonsteel, her ears perked and her pawsteps silent whereas not to startle any possible prey. She made sure to not get sidetracked, not wanting to lose his scent. It was admittedly harder to track than usual, thanks to the dense mist. She had hoped it'd go away sometime soon- it was extremely irksome. As the deputy's scent got stronger, however, she could also smell deer nearby. Dropping lower, she crept silently along, keeping alert and silent. Deer would be quite useful to the clan, as the fresh-kill pile was rather small despite her few additions from her previous and shorter hunting trip. Eventually, as she slunk onward, she could also make out the scent of blood mingled with Dragonsteel's. Lifting her head, she trotted forward, spotting the silhouette of the male. Approaching him, Minkfur flicked her tail with a woof, "Good catch." She then sat down near him, dipping her head. "Congratulations on becoming deputy... But nonetheless ah... I was supposed to go hunting with Blackwidow yet she uhm... Had a bit of a problem with Nightstar. I chose to leave and find you before I witnessed anything... unpleasant..." she then murmured, looking at the male with a rather concerned gaze. Sure, Minkfur was in ShadowClan, but she undoubtedly had a good heart. She didn't want Blackwidow to be hurt- she respected the older she-wolf, after all.

Catching his breath when Minkfur appeared, the green-yellow eyed wolf blinked at her, somewhat surprised to see that she'd turned up here. Dipping his head politely when she complimented his catch, the grey wolf stared at her when she explained what had gone on Surely Blackwidow isn't stupid enough to challenge him after what happened with Cheshiregrin? He'll try to kill her, I know it he had a duty to stop Nightstar from doing anything truly stupid and so sighed quietly meeting her concerned gaze with his usual calm one "I'll stop him, help me bring this fawn back to camp, I wont let him kill her" somewhat gruff but calm and confident enough to at least hopefully persuade the brown and black she wolf that he had it all under control. Already his brain was putting together what he should say to cut through the leaders fury, lifting the fawn by grabbing its neck as best he could he waited until Minkfur had her teeth dug into another part of it before he began moving maneuvering the corpse between the pair of them with skilled ease. His mind running over everything that had happened, he had guessed that it would likely have come to this, although he hadn't thought it would have had to be this soon. If Nightstar was attacking Blackwidow then Jesterpup would be there egging him on, pausing to release the fawn a moment he spoke to Minkfur "When I go talk to Nightstar, Grab that infernal Jesterpup and throw him in the nursery to keep him from escalating the situation. The evil little shit" it was the first time he'd verbally spoken his dislike and mistrust of the red and black pup. Picking up the deer again he continued moving, Nightstar he could manipulate to use some sort of logic, Jesterpup however was uncontrollable a type of Chaotic evil he'd seen many a time in the fighting ring. There was only one kind of cure for evil psychopaths like that, death, snorting to himself the muscled warrior kept going forward fine tuning what he'd say until he had a paragraph of words and an action plan. At least the deer in his and Minkfur's jaws would cool Nightstar off a little.

Minkfur sighed in relief at Dragonsteel's words, nodding slightly with a murmur, "StarClan above, thank you..." Already, her trust in the male was growing. At least he was less quick to anger than Nightstar. With a soft grunt, she bent over to take a part of the young deer in her jaws. She then dragged it along with the help of the male, determined to keep the pace quick in order for them to arrive in time. She hoped nothing too serious had happened yet, not too much bloodshed. Nightstar was a powerful wolf, after all, and though she knew Blackwidow was a capable warrior, the male surely was a nasty fighter. She respected the latter wolf immensely, too, and would hate to see her banished or humiliated. Yes, ShadowClan was stronger and more brutal than other clans, but the wolves in it deserved to be respected, and were to remain honorable. Nightstar was powerful, yes, but he was awfully brutal and cold- Minkfur rather strongly disliked that. She could see the evil in him, clear as day.
At Dragonsteel's command, the younger she-wolf nodded curtly with a soft grunt through the mouthful. "Mhm," she growled, her contempt for the pup flashing in her eyes. He was a troublemaker- she figured he'd probably try to witness the fight go down. That was nothing for a pup to see. She'd be sure to keep him away from whatever would happen. For all she knew, he could possibly try to provoke a fight.

Moving forward the male slowed down to a relaxed walk as he reached the silver forest and glanced about, merely 24 hours ago Nightstar had announced that he was to be deputy and now he was suddenly leader? It was rather difficult to comprehend, however the hunting excursion with Minkfur offered some relief to the changes that had suddenly occurred, there was some deer somewhere up ahead of him but that was secondary. Glancing back at the brown and black wolf he met her gaze and absently flicked his ears hearing a stick snap somewhere to their left, checking it wasn't anything to be wary of he returned his attention to Minkfur and spoke "Tell me, what happened to Bramblerose?" she was acting, broken strange and hadn't even seemed to care that she'd been given an apprentice. He sighed softly to himself, he'd have to ask for details about Blackwidow as well, after the way she'd marched straight to the medicine den without talking to him first had severely annoyed him. Although he supposed he could overlook it since she'd been badly wounded, lowering his head to run his tongue over the impressive scar on his chest the male huffed to himself before his gaze found the younger wolf again. He ceased in his walking all together to focus his attention on what the other one had to say, cool, calm and deliberate he already had ideas on how he was going to increase shadowclan territory without having to fight pointless battles against other clans. None of the clans trusted Shadowclan, so they would gang up four against one if something happened, so the surprisingly cunning male had other plans that were about to be implemented. For now he needed to become the leader the clan needed and that meant earning their faith and trust, even though for some it'd always be out of duty than any real loyalty to him.

Minkfur padded behind the male, her ears perked and alert whilst her nose sniffed at the air. Leaf fall had finally seemed to arrive... That meant that leaf bare was on its way. The she-wolf never favored the cold, solely because it was more difficult to hunt. Not to mention, if the clan was to continue to grow like the way it currently was, they'd need plenty of food to feed all the wolves. Thankfully, it seemed that no she-wolves were expecting, so there wouldn't be anymore mouths to feed. Hopefully. Minkfur didn't pay much attention to clan gossip, though, so who knows? Who even were mates? Shaking her head, the young fay trailed behind her leader until his words snapped her out of her thoughts. She paused, processing his words for a moment before inhaling and looking away for a moment. After a bit of hesitation, Minkfur finally murmured, "Thrushheart and I found her scent on the border, coupled with an unfamiliar ThunderClanner's. After we followed it,
it seemed to appear that she had been meeting up with him. I... I think they had fallen in love. But the male was shot by a twoleg right in front of her. She must be... quite distraught."
That was probably an understatement, however. From the looks of it, Bramblerose seemed rather... broken. The practical part of Minkfur worried for her friend's apprentice. Would she be able to properly train Antpaw in such a state? Quickly, however, she brushed off said ponderings. Such thoughts were hardly even important. Her friend lost her mate, for StarClan's sake!

Listening carefully as Minkfur explained that she and Thrusheart had followed Brambleroses’s scent his features showed no sign of the unhappiness that flickered inside of him when he found out that the fearsome shadowclan warrior had fallen in love with a Thunderclan wolf. Understanding now why the red female was so broken when Minkfur informed him that the male had been shot and killed right infront of her. He was unsure if he should reassign Antpaw to someone else then mentally shook his head no, having an apprentice to keep an eye on and train should hopefully keep her busy and from wallowing too much. For now he shelved those thoughts, Bramblerose would at least learn her lesson about breaking the warrior code, however he’d always had doubts about this code – yes it was honourable but it was highly impractical however he was more than able to get around it and use it to his own ends. He still wanted to get more dogs and wolves from the fighting ring to join, ideally killian but that rogue would never join so he’d have to settle for others. Even with Blackwidow returning he was confident that Minkfur was the best choice of deputy for the clan, the yellow eyed female was young but she had good intentions although he hoped he might be able to teach her that sometimes strangers were a positive influence. Val for example, although fighting might not be her best ability, she was sly and cunning enough to use her looks against others, White Demon spoke for himself although he pitied any wolf that challenged him especially if they were a male as at the end of the fight they’d find themselves unable to pass on their genetics. Realizing that Minkfur was probably not that pleased with him about Jesterpaw the grey wolf decided that he would explain his thoughts behind her since she was his deputy after all “I suppose you’ve got questions about the red and black menace then? It’s quite simple, you’re the only wolf apart from myself in the clan that I trust handle the evil little brat.” Apart from himself, he was quite wary about letting Jesterpaw to go to anyone else for a good reason, she’d keep ontop of him and make sure he didn’t get too twisted.

Minkfur sniffed along the grass, nosing around leafs that had begun to fall. Looking back upwards at the trees, she scowled and looked around for any nearby prey. She hadn't missed the scent of deer, and there was the scent of fowl and squirrels lingering in the air. Birds must be migrating, while the squirrels were probably beginning to gather food for their slumber. The young she-wolf envied them slightly. She wished she could just eat a crap ton before sleeping all leaf bare, barely minding the cold. It seemed a lot better than just standing about in wind that was so cold it hurt her face. However, she was a warrior - no - a deputy. She had a duty to the clan, so she couldn't just sleep all winter. That'd probably be boring, anyways. No excitement or honor in being lazy.
Dragonstar's words snapped her out of her rambling thoughts, and she glanced towards him. The mention of Jesterpaw caused one of her ears to twitch, and she immediately averted her gaze with a slight scowl. She should have figured she'd the troublesome male, as she had already dealt with Forsakensoul, who was quite a pawful. Sighing, Minkfur returned her golden eyes to the gray brute, nodding slightly. "It's alright. Anyone else besides us probably would have a hard time with him... I suppose I have experience with difficult apprentices..." She was very proud of how Forsakensoul turned out, despite his aversion to fighting and, ultimately, his fate. She'd have to check to see how he was doing, sometime. "I'm sure I'll be able to straighten him out. Hopefully there's a good wolf in him somewhere..." Minkfur then murmured. She prayed that with enough work, and possibly with enough kindness, he'd lose his evil ways.

The steel grey wolf nodded his thoughts flicking through the various things that needed to be done, “As for more territory, it is foolish to consider taking any from Thunderclan or Sunclan, the other four clans would simply gang up on us and its something that’s been done before, no we need a new angle and to work smarter not harder. I believe it is in our best interest to scout the local loner territories and pick out the ones with the best prey that can help us during leaf bare” continuing to walk along quietly enjoying the moment away from the constant drama of camp. That was the issue with these packs there was always so much drama it was highly unnecessary, however he’d always kept that to himself. His yellow green eyes darted over to the brown and black form of his deputy, she was pleasant company at the very least and opinionated enough to not be a walk over which was a bonus. “You dislike White Demon” It wasn’t a question, he sounded a little amused although often times it was difficult to tell when he was and when he wasn’t “He hails from the fighting ring I came from, any dog or wolf that survives that place is an asset to the clan, it’s a place where you fight or you die there is no inbetween. He’s long learnt to use his size to his advantage and is a cunning little bastard. He’s called the stone-snatcher for a reason” grimly amused as he remembered several fights where the small fluffy white dog had taken down opponents plenty of others had died to. His small angry French ways worked, which was why he’d recommended that the late Nightstar allow him to join in the first place, Dragonstar smirked to himself a brief moment then asked “Before we begin properly hunting do you have any questions?” he wasn’t sure how much time they’d end up with no one else around to discuss things and so he took advantage of the time now to query and see if there was anything on her mind. After hunting he’d get her to put together a patrol to go scouting through several loner territories to find any that’d be an asset to his clan, fully aware that he’d become a hypocrite as a year or so ago he’d been on stormclan territory pissed off that they’d taken the best territories including the bramble tangle he was so fond of. However now things were different, he had a pack of wolves and a single dog to feed and protect, if that meant a few disgruntled loners than so be it. Running over the ones he was aware of, there were several that would be suitable prey wise however the territory also had to be close to Shadowclan territory otherwise what was the point?

The small black wolf had been wandering these new lands for a while now, leaving barely any pawprints. Sometime he wasn't even touching the ground, an absent by product of being dead. He'd spent his time scouting out the new territories, taking in all the changes. It had been interesting when the clans had decided to move, and he could distinctly remember Starclan having a lot of arguments about it. He could also distinctly remember egging them on. Amused at the memory, he paused to sniff at a few markers, realising with a start that he was now on Shadowclan land. A pang of sadness ripped through him, ancient memories of his old lover flitting through his mind before he shook them away. It had been so long, he no longer really believed that he'd find him again.

Pushing away the sadness yet again, he scouted around for the owners of the scents he'd found, padding after them silently. The sun was warm on his black pelt, and he was enjoying being in the mortal world for a while now. It would be much fun to cause mischief in these lands as well as Starclan and the Dark Forest. Chancing across a pair of wolves, he sat in clear view and studied them for a few moments, wondering what they'd do. He was well aware that the Dark Forest wolves had been strengthen by the recent eclipse, and these piddly clan wolves would soon learn exactly what that meant.

Minkfur licked her paw as she listened to her leader speak, slightly nodding and looking into the distance as he made his suggestions. True, the rest of the clans would be quite sore and butthurt if ShadowClan attempted to claim parts of their territory. They would undoubtedly gang up on the clan, and as strong as ShadowClan was, they couldn't take on all three clans. Instead, she flicked an ear and softly murmured, "I'll put together a patrol sometime, then. Perhaps some of the former loners would know good areas we can check out." She was slightly caught off guard at his statement about her opinion of the White Demon - how did he know? Was her distaste that obvious? Or was Dragonstar just that observant? She momentarily lowered her head somewhat, looking away before quickly assuming her normal, proud stance with a slight cough. "I guess it's rather wrong to assume all house dogs are weak, but until I'm proven otherwise, I'll continue to think so. If you say he's a good fighter, I suppose I'll have to trust your word," she woofed with a small flick of an ear. At his inquiry, Minkfur averted her gaze in thought, tilting her head. "Why exactly did you choose me to be your deputy? I'm younger than most warriors in the clan... and... Don't get me wrong, I'm definitely not complaining, but... why?" Her tone was curious, nothing more. She had already accepted her new position - she only wanted to know what he saw in her.
It wasn't long before a black wolf approached the two. Her hackles instantly raised, and the she-wolf curled back her lip to reveal a fang. He was a stranger - what was he doing here? Why did he walk into plain sight? Was he intending on joining? Lifting her head higher, Minkfur quickly barked, "You're trespassing on ShadowClan territory, stranger. State your business."

Glancing about with an acute gaze he took in Minkfurs reply with satisfaction, indeed most of her reactions to his words proved to him that she had been the correct choice. White Demon would indeed have to prove himself but the curly white dog was more than used to that, it'd take little effort for him to prove himself he was quite sure however. A single fight with a male and the dog would have the proof he needed to prove himself worthy to the clan, licking the old scar over his chest he considered the question about why he'd picked her. "I'm a firm believer in balance, I'm an older wolf so a young deputy with a spine and fresh ideas balances well. Whereas Nightstar in his young inexperienced state was smart for him to pick an older more wiser deputy to balance out his own naivety and paranoia" spotting the black wolf with its silver eyes the same moment his deputy did the silver male's stance changed surprisingly quickly. Going from relaxed to leaning towards threatening, ears perked sharply forward and his tail lifting in a signal of dominance, a dark deep rumbling growl emitted forth from his chest. Green-Yellow eyes studied the male, he was small and lean to the point of being skinny, he couldn't pick up any scent coming from the creature either. There was something... not natural about the stranger and the cunning grin plastered on his face caused his hackles to rise further adding to the dominant posture Dragonstar carried himself as.

Simply watching them, Atrel took a few moments to groom his paws, pausing to study them as they faded to shadowy wisps briefly. Eventually deciding that it would be a good idea to pay attention to the two mortal wolves, he turned his head back to watch them again, silver stare unblinking. "Shadowclan land? Not the one I once knew. We could all be trespassing for what you know." Padding forward and barely touching the ground, he circled the pair, taking in their unfamilar scents. "A fighter and a pup, how quaint. Things certainly have changed now, haven't they?" A soft cheeky laugh left him, and he sat in the sun again, enjoying the feel of it after so many years in the stars. "Been wary of the mist lately? I've heard tell that it harbours some strangers, best be on your guard fighter. That pup won't last long." Sharp silver eyes studied the silver male before a sly grin spread over the black wolf's face. "Oh no, she won't last long at all. And neither will you."

Minkfur carefully watched the mysterious male, her hackles raised and her stance rather dominant. She allowed him to speak, before casting a glance to Dragonstar as if asking 'what's with this guy?' She quickly bared her fangs at the stranger, her ears flattened down against her head. It seemed like he had no real business on their territory. He had just come to be cryptic and irritating, it seemed. Was he actually taunting them? Calling her a pup? On their land? That was just unacceptable. Lashing her tail, Minkfur flicked her muzzle towards the closest border. "Enough. If you have no real business here, leave before we make you," she growled, narrowing her dull yet irritated golden eyes. She was no pup, and she certainly didn't appreciate anyone saying she and her leader were going to die. Hell, she desperately wanted to cuff the dark male across the nose for saying such nonsense. Who was he to make such predictions? Certainly no medicine wolf. He didn't smell of any of the clans. He just carried a disturbing air with him- she couldn't put her paw on it. The deputy wouldn't think too deeply about it for now. He seemed to be trouble, and he needed to go.

His gaze remained on the shadowy male as he was circled, his first instinct was to break out of the circle the male was forming around them which he did, narrowing his eyes sharply as the stranger sat down and spoke. He announced that the mist harboured strangers and that he should take care of the pup as she wouldn't last long, then added as an afterthought that the big powerful fighter wouldn't either. His words caused Dragonstars to lips to curl into a sneer, laughing softly he announced confidently and almost wisely "Nobody lives forever silver-eyes, I won't last long in the scheme of things, and Neither will Minkfur or any other wolf, what is the life of a wolf to a tree that lives many wolf lifespans without perishing?" The sneer faded and he was back to his usual self although with some added bristling, there was something about this wolf that danced down his spine, that yelled in his ear do not trust this one as far as you can spit. "Although I am Curious Silver-eyes, what strangers in the mist? Are they to do with the whispy shadows that murdered Nightstar?" he stepped forward holding himself confidently and with slightly less dominance than he had before wanting answers from the sly wolf and getting the hint that he wouldn't say anything if he felt bullied. His thickening fur that was preparing itself for the winter ahead was still bristling with mistrust for the stranger, Dragonstar awaited the small thin males words with baited breath.

Giving a lazy yawn as he sat again, Atrel considered the two wolves. He wasn't sure he really wanted to answer their questions. "Now why would I answer anything? That detracts from the fun, don't you see?" Noticing that being circled put the bigger male on edge, he did it again, deliberately brushing up against the female. His coat was cold to the touch, far colder than any living wolf should be, and he was fully aware of that fact. "No body lives forever, fighter? I would agree, however there are some who continue to live after their body has died." He was one of them, and it ached so much whenever he remembered that his lover wasn't. Finding a warm patch of sun, he scratched an itch on his ear. "All shadows are misty, yet not all mists are the shadow. Be wary of one, and aware of the other. Maybe the pup will live, maybe the clan will die." Curious to see how much goading it would take to be attacked or driven off their land, he had a solution for if that ever happened. once the leader and his deputy were suitable unnerved, he'd go make mischief elsewhere, and see what other leaders he could find.

Minkfur tensed at the male's circling- it was as if he was appraising them in some sort. Gathering whatever information he needed before attacking. Her fur prickled and she warily watching him, noting Dragonstar even moving away. However, she stood her ground until the black wolf brushed against her. With a soft growl, she instinctively moved to her leader's side, her hackles raised. His touch didn't feel right- he was cold. Cold like a dead body. Such a thought caused the she-wolf to shiver, and her ears remained flattened against her head. What was he saying? What did he even mean? She glanced towards Dragonstar, awaiting any sort of signal as to what to do next with the stranger. Personally, Minkfur wanted him gone. However, he left her quite curious, with plenty of questions. Unfortunately, she doubted he'd answer any of her questions. She wasn't sure if she wanted answers to said questions, considering how cryptic they were. Yet, they could be rather important- were they prophesies of some sort? Undoubtedly a warning of some sort. What exactly was going on? Did it have something to do with what killed Nightstar?

His ears were perked forward and focused on the other wolf, yellow-green eyes fixed on the silvery grey ones, stepping out of the circle again he was quickly putting together how this stranger worked. The words he gushed reminded him of how White Demon rakked up his prey before he took them down, he didn't seem interested in fighting however more in getting an reaction out of them both which he'd gotten with minkfur. Dragonstar wasn't as easily rattled however, and instead began to get sick of the cryptic words, either say something or leave, lunging forward with the intent to snap out at the wolf out of a desire to get him to leave than any real rattledness at the silver eyed ones words. His lips were drawn back to reveal sharp white teeth although his eyes remained logical and calculating revealing briefly just how dangerous the big calm seeming brute could be.

sorry for shit post - hard to do long ones bc of cast

Pleased that he'd managed to unnerve the female pup quite easily, the thin wolf had been waiting for an attack from the ex-fighter. Cackling when the large male lunged, Atrel's form dissolved into a shadowy mist, hovering in the air while his cheeky laugh continued to be heard. "Maybe keep an eye on the shadow you know, fighter. Who knows what the mismatched eyes will find next." He lingered around the female for a few long moments, still deathly cold to the touch, and then zoomed away, leaving only his cryptic words and the faint echo of his laugh behind him. He had other things to attend to, other wolves to unnerve. This land and these clans were becoming quite intriguing and he wanted to stay as long as he possibly could.
