ThunderClan Camp - Page 12 Empty
PostSubject: ThunderClan Camp   ThunderClan Camp - Page 12 I_icon_minitimeSun Jul 23, 2017 11:40 pm

First topic message reminder :

A slightly steep dip in the ground, surrounded by fallen pine trees and brambles. Some trees have even fallen over top of the large dip, making bridges over the camp. The leader's den is a jumble of rocks with a tunnel under it that leads into a den. The medicine wolf den is the same as the leader's den. The elders' den is in a hollow log on the side of camp that has been filled up with moss and other soft bedding materials. The warriors' den is a large, thick bush with much cover, as is the apprentices' den, and the nursery is the same as the elders' den.

The large warrior stepped out of the warriors' den, her jaws parting in a yawn. So far, it seemed to be a normal day. The sun was still there, after all. It still perplexed her that the sun could somehow be completely covered up, and she had taken it to be a sign of bad times to come. Leopardstrike took a seat right outside the den, her green gaze flicking about the camp. It seemed like mostly everyone was awake, so she figured that she had gotten up late. The brown wolf noticed that the pups were out of the medicine den, as well. Although Skysong had since become their mother, the pups were still her kin. She really wished that either her or Rosethorn had been able to save Ghostwhisper, but alas, there hadn't been anything they could have done. The pups seemed to have a good life despite Ghostwhisper's death, however. She was glad that Skysong and Shadowheart had taken up caring for them.

When she heard Cherrypaw's voice, Leopardstrike glanced towards the camp entrance. The apprentice had blood on her muzzle so Leopardstrike figured that she had been out hunting. "I can help," she said. She got up to her paws and headed over to where Cherrypaw was standing. Leopardstrike was always up for helping her Clan. To her, it wouldn't feel right if she hadn't offered to help.

Pigeonheart blinked with surprise when Blackadder told him that his apprentice wasn't in the camp. When had she left? "Oh, um, I knew that," he replied. He was glad that they weren't going to go after Lion now, but the fact that Maplepaw had left camp bothered him. How had he failed to notice? The young warrior started toward the camp entrance, wondering where he should search first, when he caught scent of Maplepaw... and RiverClan. Did she enter RiverClan land? He sure hoped not; he'd be in so much trouble if his apprentice had intruded another Clan's lands. Plus, it was most certainly against the rules. He gave Maplepaw a quizzical look before he spotted the large dog she had brought back with her. How could she have been so reckless as to bring a stranger directly to ThunderClan's camp? Where did I go wrong? Blackadder had never gotten into trouble as an apprentice. Why did Maplepaw have to?

His amber gaze turned to Rainstar briefly when she chastised Maplepaw and told her that she was responsible for the dog, who was apparently named 'Grizzly.' He watched as Maplepaw set aside a nest for Grizzly in the elders' den and led Grizzly over to it. Pigeonheart padded after them, stopping at the entrance to the den. He opened his mouth to lecture his apprentice about bringing others into the camp without permission, but thought better of it. He supposed that Rainstar had that covered. He'd overheard Maplepaw speaking about hunting and realized that he hadn't yet taught her very much about that skill. "Maplepaw, we'll go practice hunting later. Whenever you've finished up and you'd like to begin, just come and get me," he said. With that, Pigeonheart walked back into the clearing and took a seat near the edges of the camp. His eyes flicked towards the camp entrance when Cherrypaw called out that she need to warriors to help her. He debated whether or not he should offer, but decided to wait and see if another warrior would step up first before he would.

Watching as the old dog stepped into the nest, Maplepaw relaxed a little when he fell asleep, however she’d still go and try to find something to hunt so he had a mini fresh kill pile of his own, she wouldn’t eat until he did. Her ears flicked back and lowered somewhat a soft sigh escaping the youngster, how was bringing an elder who had wisdom into the camp trouble? She wasn’t stupid, if it’d been anyone else she wouldn’t have, but it had been clear that even her with her minimal knowledge of fighting would have been able to defeat him. Was it wrong of her to help others? That wasn’t what she understood in the warrior code, with her pelt hot and her ears burning she was about to slip out of camp to attempt to hunt when she noticed Pigeonheart walking up towards her. Lowering her head and expecting a lengthy waffling lecture, instead he told her that he’d go for a hunting lesson with her later, when she was finished and ready to begin she was to get him.

Her green eyes flicked up in surprise, the lack of a long loud lecture and instead an offer of help meant the world to the little apprentice who felt so alone in this world. She perked up and her tail wagged of its own accord, Pigeonheart, her mentor would help her and then she wouldn’t be a failure to the warrior code like Blackadder had said, she wouldn’t be a looser and she wouldn’t get kicked out of the clan for being pathetic. She always took her brothers words as truth, as after all he was her older brother and a warrior now so he clearly knew so much more about everything than she did, she could feel his orange gaze on her red pelt and knew that he was going to get short with her. He was always quick to pull her down or remind her of her place, which she deserved after all she’d nearly gotten Lightfire killed and that would have hurt her brother more than anything else in the world even if she’d died and Lightfire had survived she doubted that blackadder would give two mouse tails if she had. Wanting to get out of camp before that happened, the red-ginger female whipped about on her paws and trotted neatly after Pigeonheart “I’m ready now if you are, Mentor” green eyes glittered with clear admiration of the warrior, he was such a good warrior as he’d mentored her brother and he was a fearsome warrior of the clan she could only hope that she would turn out as good.

It was only then that she heard Cherrypaws call for others to help bring deer back to the clan camp, highly confused she turned and spoke to Pigeonheart “Excuse me, Mentor. But shouldn’t Cherrypaw be helping in the medicine den not hunting since she’s the medicine wolf apprentice?” her voice was soft as she didn’t want to be considered rude for questioning another wolf who was higher in rank than herself’s actions. Blinking as white fluffy flakes started to fall from the storm grey clouds above the camp, the little apprentice was enthralled, briefly forgetting that she was an apprentice not a pup and had asked Pigeonheart to help teach her how to hunt, Maplepaw crouched before springing up managing to catch one of the flakes in her mouth. “Cold! whats all this white stuff Mentor?” she announced with a giggle, her natural gentle side coming out to play, batting at other flakes as they started to descend from the clouds to join the first, the curly furred she wolf played about in the falling snow while waiting for Pigeonhearts response.

After being shooed from the Medicine Den by her mother, Rainpup yawned and entered the clearing, her large blue eyes scanning the camp around her. "Everyone's so busy! It must be so much fun to be a warrior," she thought longingly, watching the activities nearby with interest. With her mother and Ravenpup at work healing, Rainpup wondered what to do, looking around for a familiar face. While she watched, something unusual began to fall from the sky, coming down in white clumps. "Ahh! What is it?!" She yipped loudly to herself, beholding in wonder as the sparkly white stuff floated down. "Woah its cold!" She barked as a flake landed on her nose. Licking it off, Rainpup shook her head and hurried back where Shadowheart and her sister were. "Mom! Dad! The sky is full of cold stuff!" She yipped loudly, completely oblivious to her mother and Ravenpup who were focused on healing. She skipped in excitedly and bounded up to her father and Skypup, her eyes full of excitement.

Rockybolt let out a yawn as he stepped outside of the warriors' den. It appeared that he'd woken up a little bit late. Oh well. There wasn't much he could do to change the past. It didn't appear like he'd missed anything, anyways. Things seemed to be rather calm in camp at the moment. Perhaps later he would be called on a patrol, be it for hunting or to check the borders. He hadn't decided what he'd do for the time being, not until he heard Cherrypaw ask for some assistance in bringing some prey back to camp. Always happy to help, the golden retriever padded over to the entrance. He dipped his head in greeting to both Cherrypaw and Leopardstrike, who apparently was also going to lend a paw. "I'll come too," he said. Something cold landed on his muzzle right after he finished speaking, and he glanced up at the sky. Dark clouds covered up any trace of the sun, and it was possible that the snow would continue to fall for some time. "We'd better hurry," he added. "The snow will make it harder to bring back the deer."

The warrior's golden gaze shifted to Maplepaw when she told him that she was ready. He gave a nod of approval. He was quite happy that Maplepaw took her training seriously and wanted to get started as early as possible. "Yes, I'm ready." Where would they train? It was leafbare, so prey would be more scarce. He needed to pick a place that was likely to have at least some prey. "We'll practice in the Raspberry Glade. We might be able to find some rabbits there, perhaps even deer. We'll start off with smaller prey at first, however. After you've gotten the hang of that, we can move onto hunting deer." He was certain that Maplepaw would learn how to hunt quickly. She seemed to be eager to learn, and after all, she did have him as her mentor.

Pigeonheart tilted his head at Maplepaw's next sentence. She was right—how had he not paid attention to the fact that a medicine wolf, apprentice or not, had been out hunting? "That's true," he said, before glancing over at Cherrypaw. "Are Rainstar and Song of the Sky aware that you've been out hunting? What if a patrol got attacked or an epidemic broke out? We would need all the help we could get! Suppose you injured yourself out hunting. What would happen then?" he huffed. I can't believe how thoughtless apprentices can be. Or wolves in general. Am I the only one with any sense? Pigeonheart shook his head. "I'm going to let Rainstar know about this," he added, unaware of the fact that Cherrypaw had the leader's approval.

He didn't wait for a response and instead turned back towards Maplepaw. Upon hearing the apprentice's question, he glanced up at the sky. A snowflake landed in his eye, causing him to flinch and quickly look down. "Why, that's snow. It happens around this time of the year, when it gets really cold out," he said. He blinked his eye as it was somewhat bothering him. "It's only a flurry at the moment, but if the snow really starts to come down, we'll have to end hunting practice early." He took a step towards the entrance before he looked back at Maplepaw. "Well, come along, now. The sooner we get going, the sooner you'll learn to hunt," he said. Once she was ready he headed off towards the Raspberry Glade. He hoped that the snow would remain light for the time being.

Cherrypaw nodded and began to head out of camp and towards where Berrywhisker and Rainstar were. Seeing that Rockybolt and Leopardstrike had offered to come made her kind of wish she should stay as a warrior apprentice, but the hard sting in her crippled paw reminded her that she will always be crippled no matter what rank she is and Song of the Sky would need an apprentice to help her out. Leading the two powerful warriors over she felt the sense of pride in herself. She could do something for her Clan and not be just a misfit!

Listening as the clear voice of Pigeonheart echoed around camp, Ravenpup got up from her spot next to her mother and padded over to the entrance of the den to watch. She had little idea about what was going on, believing very firmly that she herself would become the medicine wolf apprentice to her mother Song of the Sky and really what other example had she had to prove otherwise? All Cherrypaw had done was act like a warrior apprentice, especially since she’d had the gall to leave camp on a hunting mission with Rainstar when her duty was to stay behind with Song of the Sky and tend to the injured Mustangspirit. Her pink tongue appeared when a white fluffy flake landed on her nose, sneezing and landing backwards on her rear the youngster smiled to herself before looking around for her sister Skypup. The jet black female with her unnatural violet eyes padded back into the den keeping an eye out for her white mute sister, they were so close that it didn’t matter that she couldn’t speak they had their own quick language of signs and movements. Remembering her patient, Ravenpup moved deeper into the den and checked on Mustangspirit, he was alive by the sound of his breathing but asleep still, pressing one of her furry ears to his chest to listen to the sound of him breathing more clearly the sharp thud of his heart surprised her. It was so loud and strong she couldn’t help but be fascinated by it, the bodies of wolves were interesting in general, it was amazing how muscles and bone, cells and bacteria all worked together to sustain life and keep that life alive. She was often found ‘playing’ with fresh kill and got told off for wasting it, when in reality she was trying to figure out how the bones and muscles all worked together, she never really let much bother her and instead would often just focus more on her goal of becoming a medicine wolf that her mother would be proud of.

Pleased that the dun coloured male settled down nicely, Song didn't bother pressing him for answers to her questions. That could come later, when he was more recovered and felt more up to talking. Nuzzling her black daughter as she bounded past doing the chores she'd set, the little red female left the medicine den, sitting down next to Shadowheart again to watch the tribe doings. The lame female that was apparently supposed to be her novice had gone out hunting, which she didn't mind. After all, it was good for all wolves to know how to hunt for their tribe. However, it would have been nice to have some help with the gravely injured male. Feeling the chill in the air, a soft smile graced her muzzle at the excited yips of the pups who hadn't seen snow before. Keeping a close eye on the silent white ghost of a pup that her youngest was, the gentle red wolf answered Rainpup's excitement, using the name that she called her. She hadn't been able to help naming the pups in her tribe's tradition, rarely if ever using the names that this tribe had given then. “It's snow, Socks,” she explained, finishing off the pheasant that the pups had shared. She couldn't remember the last time she'd eaten, and it wouldn't do to waste the fresh meat. “It will get colder over the next few months, and more snow will fall. You'll need to make sure you stay warm and close.” Sharp ears heard stirring from inside the den, so she got to her feet and padded over, poking her nose in and watching as the awake male drifted back to sleep. Not minding that her little Bird padded in to check as well, the youngster's eagerness to learn was endearing. returning to the black male's side, she sat down again, nosing her Ghost gently to make sure that the mute little female was stll alright. If she was being honest, she had a soft spot for the silent female, the pup reminding Song the most of their biological mother, and she was determined to make sure all these pups survived, no matter what.

Rainpup listened to her mom as she spoke, her eyes sparkling with wonder. "Snow?" She repeated curiously, glancing up again at the sky as larger clumps began to fall. Another bit of cold landed again on her snout, and the fay smiled and stuck out her tongue to catch the flake before it melted. Song of the Sky continued to say how it would soon get colder and that she would have to keep warm. But the oblivious Rainpup was already too full of enthusiasm at the white spectacle to pay much attention to her mother's warning. "Don't worry, I will!" She yipped in reply, her attention caught on the newly discovered flakes. Crouching down, the pup leaped into the air and caught a snowflake before it landed on the ground. Smiling with triumph, Rain couldn't help but call out enthusiastically, "I love snow!" Puppy-like glee filled her features as she continued to bounce around.

Admittedly annoyed when Cherrypaw instead of listening or even acknowledging her mentor just walked off after a couple of other wolves responded to her call, Maplepaw narrowed her eyes. She'd thought that cherrypaw was a nice and kind wolf however it seemed that she was rude and quite unkind as she'd completely ignored the plight of Mustangspirit who Song of the Sky had so kindly tended to. Deciding that she was no longer friends with the other ginger she wolf, however her features softened when her mentor spoke to her and explained that the white stuff falling from the time was snow, that sometimes it came down heavily and covered the land with the wet white snow in deep drifts. The green eyed she wolf was certain to nod to show that she understood her wise mentors words, brightening up when it was mentioned that they'd go and do some hunting practice now, her eyes shone with enthusiasm. With such a great warrior teaching her she'd surely be able to learn how to hunt quick enough, shaking her thick fur to dislodge some of the white snow that had landed on her pelt the apprentice trotted off after the grey and white warrior wagging her tail.

Leopardstrike rolled her eyes as Pigeonheart began to lecture Cherrypaw about hunting. She smirked when Cherrypaw didn't even respond to him; that mouse-brained warrior didn't need any attention, as far as she was concerned. She headed out after the medicine wolf apprentice when she left, keeping towards the back of the patrol. Leopardstrike was still somewhat hesitant about venturing out into the forest—after all, Ghostwhisper had died mysteriously and she'd been helpless to stop it—so she wanted to keep watch over Cherrypaw and Rockybolt should something similar happen.

The golden retriever trotted after Cherrypaw as she began to lead the way back to the deer carcasses. He was happy that the Clan had been able to catch some prey, especially when having food wasn't always a guarantee. At least when he'd lived back in Hartford, there had always been a trash can to scavenge. There was no such certainty in the forest. Still, he didn't think he would give up Clan life for anything. Having others to rely on made living in ThunderClan worth it.

It felt like Hunterstar hadn't lasted that long at all, but it also wasn't something that Song was totally unfamiliar with. She'd been through similar situations in her long journey from her birthplace, but it was a strange feeling nonetheless. Shaking the dusting of snow off her back, she gave a sigh. It seemed that despite the odd passage of time, the snow had fallen heavily through Hunterstar, they were going to take a great deal of time to melt. That would make it hard for the tribe, but at least they had some stash of food so far. Nuzzling the little pups, she nudged them all back outside again, unwilling to let them stay indoors too long. It still felt wrong to be sleeping under cover, even in the snow and cold weather. “Go and play, young ones. Snow doesn't last forever.”

Finally. The camp was just around the bend. As strong as Leopardstrike might have been, she still had found the trip back to camp somewhat exhausting. The buck was heavy enough as it was, but Leopardstrike had borne the majority of the weight as Berrywhisker was injured. She didn't want her Clanmate to suffer any complications from exerting herself too far. She trod carefully through the bramble entrance, taking extra care to ensure that the buck didn't get caught on any of the thorns. With Berrywhisker's help, she dragged the buck all the way over to the fresh-kill pile. She dipped her head to thank the other warrior for her assistance before sitting off to the side. She was thankful that the Clan had as much prey as it had, especially since they had pups. Hopefully prey would continue to run well in the coming seasons. She still did not feel completely at ease, however, not with the strange creature she and the others had seen out in the forest. Had it been the same creature responsible for Ghostwhisper's death? They had never found the culprit, either. I'll have to keep an eye out whenever I go out of camp, she concluded. Her Clanmates' safety was of upmost importance.

Rockybolt was relieved when they headed back into the camp. He was rather glad that he hadn't been assigned to help move the buck; he could only imagine how much his muscles would be aching right now. He headed towards the prey pile and gently set down the doe along with Rainstar. He dipped his head to her in respect before moving off elsewhere in the clearing to rest for a bit. He glanced up at the sky, happy to see fluffy clouds traversing a sea of blue. He loved greenleaf, especially on sunny days such as this. If only the weather could stay the same forever.

After setting the doe down Rainstar shook her snow coated pelt out and turned her head to the three warriors. "Thank you for your help. Go rest up i dont think anyone will be going out while this snow is falling." she told them before focusing on Berrywhisker, "Go see Song of the Sky and get that wound taken care off." dipping her head she sunk her fangs into the slowly freezing flesh of the doe and ripped a chunk off. Padding to the medicine den she paused beside the two adults dropping her bundle onto some clean snow. "Song of the Sky, Shadowheart there are some fresh deer on the fresh kill pile if you are hungry." she told the pair with a gentle smile. Looking further into the den she felt her tail wagging slightly at the sight of Mustangspirit being awake. Picking the meat back up she slowly made her way over to him and laid the meat at his side. "How are you feeling, Mustangspirit?" she asked softly sitting beside his nest and curling her tail around her paws.

Pigeonheart hurried back into the camp, eager to tell Rainstar of the loner he had found. If she proved to be a valuable warrior, maybe the Clan would respect him more for having been the one to find her. He didn't see the leader in the clearing, however, and it took him a little while until he realized she was in the medicine wolves' den. "Rainstar! Rainstar!" he said, rushing inside. "I found a loner at the Raspberry Glade. Her name is Misty, and she wants to join us."

Having being quite comfortable snuggled into her dad's thick coat, the tiny puppy had managed to doze off again, but Pigeonheart's loud yappy voice woke her, and her mismatched eyes blinked blearily at the world. She didn't want to move, but the older animal's yaps were irritating her and she yawned. She didn't know where her favourite sister was so she just snuggled back into Shadowheart's thick fur, becoming invisible due to her tiny stature. It was much nicer under cover, and there was no loud noises that would disturb her now, just her dad's steady heartbeat that soothed the little puppy back into her doze.

Misty arrived at the camp and she immediately felt overwhelmed. There were so many different scents and wolves. And they way some of them were eyeing her did nothing to ease her nerves and fear. She was a bit scared that she would be chased off again as this was the fourth clan that she had been too. All of these wolves looked at her like she was there to do them harm and it caused her to shrink back a bit and to stay right there by the entrance not really wanting to move further in, she was going to stay right here incase she need to bolt out of there in a hurry. Pigeonheart started to call for a wolf by the name of Rainstar and Misty assumed that was the leader of the clan. Misty really hoped that everything went smoothly this time around.
